India’s surging cloud market has a golden opportunity to forge a new path that puts users first, and we’re thrilled to have the chance to offer our Indian customers cloud native technologies and help businesses in the region to build their technologies on a foundation of transparency and fairness.” - Mark Boost, CEO and Co-founder of Civo
Founded in the UK, Civo now has cloud regions across Europe, North America, and Asia to support its customers. This new Mumbai Cloud Region was set up with support from the British High Commission in India and HM Government.
“The UK’s tech sector is the third largest in the world, valued at $1 trillion. The UK and India are committed to working together on the defining technologies of this decade, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors, through the recently launched UK-India Technology Security Initiative. Civo’s expansion into India is a pertinent example of this commitment, leveraging the vibrant talent and innovation in tech across both countries to boost mutual growth. My best wishes to Civo as they enter one of the fastest growing markets in the world.” - Anna Shotbolt, Deputy Trade Commissioner for South Asia, British High Commission
As hyperscale providers continue to dominate global cloud markets, users are faced with ever more opaque data use policies and billing practices, with many cloud providers freely transferring user data across multiple jurisdictions where it can be subject to differing data protection and surveillance laws. Many businesses in regulated industries are excluded altogether due to data sharing across borders, and insufficient security assurances. The new region will be priced the same as other Civo regions, approximately 50% cheaper than Big Tech competitors that increase the price for their services in India.
Civo’s India cloud region is a sovereign solution that ensures compliance with Indian regulations, guarantees data security, and empowers public and private organizations to retain control over their critical data, all while building trust through transparency and security-first operations. Private sector firms can be assured of enhanced security, with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance. With guaranteed control over critical data, public sector organisations can also ensure that national security, economic growth, and regulatory compliance are protected.
Using data centre infrastructure running on up to 80% renewable energy, provided by Sify Technologies, the new region reflects Civo’s continued efforts to champion sustainable solutions. The centre’s low-latency connections provide exceptional performance across the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, ensuring businesses can adapt, scale, and run applications seamlessly.
“We’re very excited to host Civo at our world-class data centre facilities in Mumbai India. At our 80% renewable-energy powered data centre, Civo joins a growing collection of providers signalling their commitment to ensuring tomorrow’s technology doesn’t cost the planet. Civo's enterprise solutions share Sify’s agenda of empowering Indian enterprises and accelerating their digital transformation.” - Howard Thomas - Managing Director Sify Technologies Europe
The new region will offer a robust suite of cloud-native solutions, including Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and advanced tools like WebAssembly. These services represent a comprehensive set of simple-to-use, low-latency solutions for enterprises, start-ups and developers. Accompanying the regional launch is a £20 million (INR 200 crores) investment in the region. This will support expansions to the company’s India-based staff, allowing customers to experience the unparalleled support offered across all of Civo’s now six global regions.
“With Civo as a partner, our fast, efficient, and cost-effective AI platform has gone from strength to strength. Their Indian sovereign cloud offering promises to be a game changer, ensuring companies can build and scale compound AI applications. Companies can login and spin up a CIVO cluster in a self-serve manner. We can’t wait to be a part of their journey in the region." - Anuraag Gutgutia, Co-founder at TrueFoundry
Mumshad Mannambeth, founder and CEO of KodeKloud, said: “Civo has emerged as an exciting platform of choice to host our extensive workload of hands-on labs and AI-assisted learning modules, used to teach Kubernetes to over 1 million students. Our setup is uniquely challenging, as we provide students with secure access to Kubernetes clusters for real-world practice while leveraging AI to personalize their learning experience. Civo’s innovative solution delivers the scalability, performance, and security we need, making it a promising partner for our mission to empower the next generation of cloud-native and AI professionals.”
